MUTTLEYS RESULTS

Planing ahead - September 2009 - European Championship in Cadiz, Spain

The big one this year will be the Europeans in Cadiz, Spain. 15th - 25 September 2009

Championship info
here.

This is not available to the Mini-Muttleys as you need to be 25 to swim in international meets, but for the rest of us it is Game-On.

There are a couple of people who have expressed an interest in attending and there is still plenty of time to get organised.

The Muttleys have been busy since November, taking part in the T30 challenge. More info on the T30
here.

This competition is open to all Masters across the country and aims to see who can swim furthest in 30 minutes. On the back of one swim, they can enter as individuals and as team (men, women or mixed).

This is the third year the Muttleys have taken part and last year they got some medals and a new British record !!

Info on the asa website
here.

In the three remaining weeks available to complete the T30 challenge, the following victims have been lined up and are ready to go:
Jan 16th Katherine and Laura
Jan 23rd Lorraine and Robin
Jan 30th Kev and Rich

Four Mini-Muttleys are joining the team this year. Nissy, Eddie, Rachel and Ollie will all be 18 in 2009 and so hopefully they may consider taking part in some Masters events. Not real Masters yet, of course as they have not got mortgages or bodies that fall to bits/get cramp. Just Mini Muttleys and Mini Masters.

New Year Gala

Five intrepid Muttleys braved the sub-zero early morning temperatures to take part in the Shrewsbury Masters New Year Gala.

They came away with three East Midland records - Stephen 100 fly, Ruthie 100 fly and Robin 100 IM.

They also won awards for the top Male swimmer in the 60-64 age group (Robin) and top man 45-49 (Stephen). Ruthie got top woman in the 45-49 age group. The meeting was very well organised with a good programme that required all to do one swim in each stroke plus a 100 IM. They had to fortify themselves at lunchtime with the essential masters nutrition - hot dogs, chips, fish, chips, caffeine, chips, ibuprofen......you get the idea.

In the evening, after poolside presentations by the mayor of somewhere (Shrewsbury presumably), there was a social event with food, drink and a live band and the chance to win an enormous bottle of champagne.

They all enjoyed the post-Christmas chance to prove that we can still swim and our small but perfectly formed team kicked some ass! Next year, they will do it all again with a large but perfectly formed team.
