Elizabeth Cole - Tribute

About

Elizabeth Cole - "Liz"

Liz originally joined Market Harborough Swimming Club when she was at school; many may remember her as Liz Tooms.

When her family became Club members, Liz, not being one to simply be a spectator, became a helper in many different roles - and was always prepared to stand in; always a willing volunteer. To many of the younger swimmers, she was the lady with a smile who took their name on the desk on Friday evenings, a role she always enjoyed as it gave her the opportunity to chat to children and revel in their enthusiasm. Liz encouraged her family, including her husband from time to time, to help, and when we were short of teachers one Friday evening she said; "I will ring home and get one of them to come down". It was suggested that they might be busy - without hesitation and in her typically calm "Liz Cole" manner, she replied; "Well they can be busy down here!".

Liz helped at galas and also helped to manage the 'B' team. Liz was a popular team manager encouraging the swimmers to do their best, support each other and built a great and palpable team spirit. Her legacy, her smile, her 'joie de vivre'; live on in her family - and the many friends who were privileged to have known her.

Market Harborough Swimming Club is stronger for her having been a member; the world is a better place for her, all too brief, presence.
We share our thoughts and love with her family
